Just thought I would pop in and say aye, aye! I'm an auld codger (nae quite decrepit) who is still hurtling roond Aiberdeen on his Vespa PX125....falling into potholes at every opportunity.LOL! My family think I'm roond the twist and you can hear them muttering " he really should ken better at his age". Ony wye ..I didna ken this forum existed, I actually went on the Leopards website and some kind soul directed me on here. I'm looking for a bit of info. Since Bob fae H&S motors has shuffled aff to the great garage in the sky, I'm looking to find someone in Aberdeen that can dae repairs on my Vespa. I'm pretty cack handed at repairs and prefer to leave them to the folks that ken fit they are daeing. Does anyone know of a garage in Aberdeen who wid look at my vespa?Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers |

Hello and welcome to the forum....
a few people finding them selfs stuck since they closed, i dont know of anywhere (localy) at the moment that will work on vespa's......
i prefer todo my own repairs as most o the garages about wont give a scoot a second look without charging a small fortune, Even then they dont actualy know what there doing!! (in my opinion)
i often assist with repairs for some local lads, But been snowed under wi me own vehicles of late (keeping me old van on the road/mot'ing the car keeping the scoot going etc etc)
iam currently servicing a lammy+ getting a t5 classic through its mot, i also have a FULL rebuild to get on wi (soz for delay mark!!) and a few house/garage calls to make......so iam a bit busy....
POST YOUR SCOOT PROBLEMS ON THE FORUM??
And iam sure someone on here will be able to point you in the right direction????
OR Has onybody found a decent garage to put a scoot into??? TELL US ALL ABOUT IT????
thanks _________________ Get them oot!!

Thanks Totti, I would imagine that there are many others like me who are stuck since Bob popped his clogs. My scoot is needin major surgery after hitting a pot hole oot at Cove ( f*ckin cooncil). I went through the air and the scoot went the other way! Although it's still driveable the front mudguard got mashed up and it really pains me to look at it. My scoot is my pride and joy and I hate looking at it in this condition. I spoke to someone (much more knowledgeable than me) about refitting a new front mudgaurd and he said (Quote) " at's a (iam lonley) o' a job to dae". I thought it would be an easy job, but he went into the technicalities and it sounded WELL beyond me. If you hear of anyone taking in repairs, let me know....dinna say Shirlaws...LOL! |

Only jokin aboot Shirlaws...I widna send my worst enemy there!
An hour (+) to change the front mudguard??????????????????????????? It's a PX125 disc (2003) does that make ony odds?
I was informed (by someone much mair knowledgeable than me) that you had to tak the whole front apart, steering aff...the whole works? He said to me, that you really need to ken fit you are doing (and to be truthful I don't!). He said you were looking at aboot 6 hours work and need a garage to work in? I've got the new mudgaurd, just need to get it painted. I 've faffed aboot getting it painted after hearing aboot the problems fitting it. If you could help oot some time in the future with the fitting I wid appreciate it no end, and happy to pay for ony work done! |

Cheers Totti, will keep you posted! Who knows I might see you oot on the road. Look for a white PX125 wi a dent on the front mudguard...and that will be me. Give me a wave. Spikkin of which , have you ever noticed how friendly scooterists are compared to other transport users? I bide oot in Porty and nearly every day I passed a bloke on a dark blue vespa..every day we passed each other and we gid each other a wave. I dinna see mony car drivers daeing that? |

Better still move into H&S and tak over far Frunkie, Gary and Bob left aff! (axevictim)
would be good But couldnt hack the commute into town every day
that road is nuts some days on the scoot, Bloody car drivers dont give scoots any respect on the road, you need yer wits about ye
was upto the vw place at wellington road the day, holly sit the potholes are a nightmare!!!!
on the way into town driving by black dog....got a fimiliar feeling of a wee wobble/bounce from the backend..... THEN sure enough ANOTHER flat tire!!!! (had the spare on tho so not so bad, changed wheel at side o the road and carried on) BLASTED through town and back out in nae time at all(passing all the bored car drivers stuck in traffic )
THEN opend the scoot up heading oot by murdo's/BQ and started bobbin about AGAIN!!!
Made it hame wi saft tire at 40mph
Think the second could have been banging in and out o the potholes in town???
CAN I CLAIM FROM THE COONCIL?? Broke me hard plastic L plate aswell going into one at the cross roads up fae union square/busstation.
TIRE COUNT THIS YEAR SO FAR
4 THAT IS FOUR COMPLETE DIFFERENT WHEELS AND TIRE's in three weeks!!!
(all were good tread/rims that ive used on several ocassions)
Need to order up some new ones _________________ Get them oot!!

I got hit by a blonde bimbo last year ( I'm gettin too auld for this) doon at the roundabout at St Machars Drive. She said " I didna see you". It's a bl**dy white scooter..how could you miss it?Perhaps if she hidna been on her mobile phone she might have noticed me?
As for claiming aff the Cooncil...I dinna think you wid hav much success. Masses of folks have hit potholes and I haven't heard of anyone succesfully claiming aff the Cooncil..but it's worth a try.. |
